God’s Sovereinty

sixth grade History, week 4 review

Assignment: write a 1-2 page paper on how God’s sovereinty was displayed in the lives of the patriarchs.

Let me first begin with explaining what sovereignty means. Sovereinty is the ability to govern the outcome of an event; supreme authority. Just to get us on the same page, I’m talking about God’s sovereinty in this essay.

The three patriarchs that we learned about were Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Let’s talk about Abraham first. He was called out of Ur to go into Canan. Don’t you think God knew what the outcome would be? He didn’t just say ” I want to see how Abraham does in Canan, so I’ll call him out of Ur.” God knew what was going to happen, and He used it for His own good, aswell as Abraham’s good.

Isaac was Abraham’s son. Abraham loved him dearly, but one day, God told Abraham to kill Isaac. We already talked about Abraham, so let’s talk about the other person in this story, Isaac. You always hear about Abraham and his great faith, but what about Isaac? Isaac had amazing faith in this situation aswell. He could have ran away so he wouldn’t get killed, but he trusted God. If you haven’t heard this story, God stopes Abraham’s hand, and gives him a ram to sacrifice. That story also showed God’s sovereinty, because He knew what the outcome of the situation was going to be, but he also had control over what would happen.

The last patriarch that I will talk about is Jacob. When his brother, Esau got mad at him, Jacob ran from home. After he ran away, do you think God wasn’t with him anymore? No! God always stayed with him! God had it all planed out, and He showed His sovereinty throughout Jacob’s life

Now you have seen God’s sovereinty in other people’s lives, but what about your’s? God knows the outcome of your life too, so if he ever calls you to go to some place far away, (or anything like that) just remember, he has a plan for you!
