Laurens Compared to the Prodigal Son

English, lesson 35

Compare and contrast Laurens (from Hans Brinker) and the prodigal son in the book of Luke.

Incase you haven’t read Hans Brinker (a.k.a. The Silver Skates), Laurens is an assistant doctor with his father, and that’s when he messes up a surgery and runs away. After a lot of years go by, his father finds him and they are together happily.

Somethings that are different about them is that Laurens was scared he’d get in trouble for messing up, so he ran away. The prodigal son, on the other hand, got money, and that’s why he ran away. After he ran away, Laurens got a job and provided for himself. When the prodigal son ran away, He just spent all his money and didn’t have enough money for the famine. Another difference is that the prodigal son went to his father, and Laurens’ father came to find him.

A couple things that are the same about them is that they were both sorry for what they had done, and both of their fathers forgave them. They also had reasons to run away. They were different reasons, but they were reasons.

Those are some things that were different and similar about the two men. I hope you liked my post!
