History, week 9 review. Write a biography essay of one of the rulers of Israel.
The ruler I chose to talk about is Samuel. Samuel’s mother’s name was Hannah and she was told by God to dedicate him to the church. Being told that by God, she sent him to live at the temple with a priest named Eli. As a young boy, Samuel was sleeping one night and heard a voice call his name. He thought it was Eli, so he went to him and asked him what he wanted. Eli said he didn’t call for him, so Samuel went back to bed. This happened 3 times before Samuel realized he was being called by God. As Samuel grew up, he still listened to God and became a judge to rule over Israel. After he became judge, he was still a good man.
Samuel was the last judge, because after a while, the people wanted a king to rule over them instead of a judge. God told Samuel to warn them about the problems a king would cause them, but they still insisted on a king. Samuel was out looking for a king one day, and found Saul. God to Samuel that Saul was to be the first king, so he anointed Saul as king. Samuel also anointed David as king later on.
I hope you enjoyed this post! Thanks for reading, and I’ll write to you next time!
