Above these words, I have posted a link to a map of the world. My assignment for this week was to write about how I would get around the world (if I did go around it). In English, we’ve been reading Around the World in 80 Days. I will say how I would go about traveling the whole world, and also about how much time I think it would take.
I wouldn’t travel around the world for real, but this is just an assignment, not real life. 😉 My modes of transportation would be by car, air plane, boat, bus, my feet, bike, and by train.
I would first start out by driving by car to the airport that is closest to the East edge of North America. Then I would fly to where I would be the closest to the East edge of South America (Brazil). I would ride a bus to the closest bus stop, and then walk to the boat station that will bring me across the South Atlantic Ocean. I’d stop when I came to Africa, and take a train to where I could sail to Europe and then fly up north, hit Iceland and then Greenland. After that I’d fly to Asia and ride buses, take trains, and fly throughout it until I get to Australia. Then, I’d sail to Antartica, but sail to where I’m covering both the Indian Ocean, and the South Atlantic Ocean. Once I got to Antartica, I’d “round it out” sailing northwest though the South Pacific Ocean, to the North Pacific, and then to the USA. I would take a train to Kansas, and then ride buses to Missouri. I might even ride a bike back to my house. That is how I would go around the world.
For Phileas Fogg it took 79 days. For me, I think it would take roughly 60 days. No offense to myself, but I probably did the math wrong. : ) I hope you liked my writing. How long would it take you to go all around the world? Have a fantastic day!
