Music in Ancient Greece

In today’s writing assignment, I will write about a form of art that the Greeks used. The form I will talk about is music. If you’ve read some of my posts before this one, you know that I’m a big fan of music. That being said, the music section in ancient Greece that we went over in history got me interested.

I will first start by saying that most of the music they played and sang to (ect.) they did for their gods that they worshiped. Their gods were really the main priority, and they thought it made them happy.

Their music was usually just the melody, not the harmony. If you’re not a music person, the melody is the basic part of the song. Usually the soprano. They would sing at plays, weddings, funerals, and, as I said before, they sang for their gods.

That’s really all we learned about the music in ancient Greece, so I will compare our music to theirs.

Now, we have alto, tenor, and base as well as soprano, when they only had soprano. We also usually sing to our God, weddings, plays, and funerals, but we also sing just for fun and to entertain for any reason.

That is how music looked like in ancient Greece. It has really changed over the years, don’t you think? Thank you for reading, and I hope you have a good day.
