What I Did During Summer Vacation Part 2

Assignment: Pick one of the shorter essays you wrote this week and make it longer and better.

I did quite a few things during summer vacation, but I will start off with the most exciting and interesting thing that I did over the summer. I think that would have to be going to camp.

In the town that I live in we have a campground that hosts multiple camps and reunions every year. I wasn’t planning on going to camp this year, but I felt like I needed to. When I found out that one of my sisters (who’s 18) was going to staff at this camp, I was then thinking about if I should go or not, and I was praying about it to see if God wanted me to go, and the answer I got was yes, I needed to go.

The theme was “We’re Marching To Zion”. (Did I mention that this was a Christian church camp?) I learned a lot of things about Zion that I had never known or I hadn’t even thought about before. We also had this thing called “chats” where we would write down our questions, and the camp pastor would answer them. This was very helpful and I learned about Zion through the questions that I asked, and that others asked, too.

Remember how I told you that my sister was going to staff at this camp? Well, she ended up being my cabin’s counselor. I wasn’t quite sure how it would go with us both being in the same cabin, (we love each other, but we are siblings)but it worked out really well and everyone had a great time.

I had a lot of fun, and I got to meet a lot of new people. Since I am homeschooled, I don’t really talk to many people that are my age. (I could if I wanted to, but I’m not a very social person.) It was nice meeting new people, making new friends, and making inside jokes with those friends.

I took a crafts class where I made some pretty cool things like hydro dipping flower pots, making macrame’ hangers for the flower pots, tie dying, and more. We also got to swim every day if we wanted to, but I chose to just hang out with my friends and play games instead because I’m not a big fan of swimming. I take piano lessons, and they had a piano at the campgrounds, so I got to practice and impress my friends 😉 (not really)

The hardest part about going to this camp was that I didn’t get to see a single dog for a whole week! How tragic is that? ;p It was rough, but I surprisingly made it through the week. II did get to pet a goat though, but that’s another story.)

This camp was from June 20th to the 26. If you don’t know, my birthday is the 20th, so I went to camp on my birthday. The camp directors found out, and they made the whole entire camp sing me happy birthday. Talk about embarrassing! ._.

Other than going to camp, I really didn’t do many “big things” over the summer. I read some new books, was very active by taking walks and playing with my little brother, and of course I kept training my dogs. I did a lot of sleeping in which was awesome. I know that I did more fun things, but my mind is going blank right now.

Some of the books I read were “The Five People You Meet In Heaven” by Mitch Albom, and then the sequel to that which is “The Next Person You Meet In Heaven”, also by Mitch Albom. I really enjoyed both of those books. I also read a lot of different books that I picked out from our library, but I forgot what they were titled. My mom signed me up for a summer reading program, and I read quite a few books. My prize when I finished my reading goal was the book “The Lost Kingdom” by Chester Bryant. I haven’t had time to read it yet, but I’m sure it will be good.

I had a really good and relaxed summer vacation for the most part, but towards the end, I was getting kind of bored and wanted something new to do. I am excited that I started school, and I’m ready to learn some new things. Thank you for reading, and have a spectacular day!
