My Best Friend

Assignment: Write an essay about your best friend and what you do together

I used to have friends when I was in public school, but once I became homeschooled, my friends and I just quit talking to each other. It’s not that we’re not friends anymore, we just kind of grew apart. I feel like I’m a bad representative for homeschoolers because everyone says that people who are homeschooled don’t have friends, and that’s kind of true for me, but not for most people who are homeschooled. I could get back in touch with my old friends or make new friends, but right now I’m fine with my two friends that I have now.

One of my best friends is of course, Jesus. I know that it’s kind of weird that I would consider Jesus one of my actual best friends, but I don’t really care. I believe that He put me into the situation that I’m in for a reason. He took my old friends away so that He could show me that He’s the only friend that I need. Sometimes I miss not having a physical friend, but I remember that I need to be ready to not let any person get in-between Jesus and me before I add other people into my life. I know Jesus will place an important person in my life when He knows that I’m ready.

I’m sure that most of you can guess my second best friend if you’ve read some of my other posts. That friend is none other than my dog, Hayze. I know that it’s also kind of weird that my best friend is a dog, but if you haven’t figured it out by now, I’m an odd person. I have always loved dogs, but our family didn’t get our first dog until 2019. He truly is my best friend, and we like to do a lot of things together.

We like to take walks together, (what dog doesn’t) and we also like to spend time learning new tricks together. Hayze loves to cuddle and just be lazy. One of his favorite things in the world is food, so we of course eat food together. (he’s not spoiled at all 😉 ) Dogs really are human’s best friend, and if you don’t have a dog, you are missing out on an awesome companionship.

Those are my two best friends. I know that they may not be what my teacher was thinking about whenever he gave this assignment, but they pretty much are my only two best friends. While I’m editing this, I realize that I made this sound like I’m really sad, and it sounds like I really want other friends. That’s not really the case, I just don’t know how else to word it. I am just fine with Jesus and my dog!
